Composers and Guests

László Kovács

Keyboard player, composer, band-leader and producer. 'Laci' was
born in Debrecen in 1965 and already showed an interest in music at
an early age. Initially he sang in school music productions, but soon
his interest turned to electronic music. In addition to music he was
extremely interested in science fiction and for years was an active
member of the Debrecen Kronosz science fiction club. It was here
that he became familiar with science fiction art. This period also saw
his first serious production; sci-fi and nature pictures brought
together in a slide show, which was shown in many places
during the early 1980's. It was while putting together this show
that the idea of creating special music to accompany
the pictures first occurred to him. So throughout the mid 1980's he
developed and produced many instruments and studio equipment.
In 1991 he graduated as a physics student from the
Debrecen Lajos Kossuth University (now the University of Debrecen).

Zsolt Vidovenyecz

Keyboard player, composer. 'Vido' was born in Debrecen in 1969.
His first basic drumkit was made for him by his father, and he continued
to learn the drums throughout his childhood. In the 1980's, together
with his friends, he experimented with making simple musical
instruments. He studied the drums with the Debrecen Rock club and
played for several years in amateur bands. Later his musical interests
turned towards electronic music. Although he continued to enjoy
the drums, he realised that on their own they didn't offer a very
wide scope for musical development, so he learnt to play keyboards
and at the beginning of the 1990' bought his first synthesiser,
a Roland JV-90, followed by a Roland TR-626 drum machine and
an Alesis MMT-8 sequencer. In 1996 he met Laci at an information
technology exhibition and soon after that Force Majeure was formed.

In addition to his musical interests he has long been interested
in graphics and pastel drawings.

Besides his artistic interests he has been actively involved
in the ancient Japanese martial art, Ju-Jitsu
and has reached the level of 2nd kyu.

Attila Sipos

Keyboard player, guitarist, composer. Attila was born in Debrecen
in 1959. He studied in Budapest and Debrecen and has been playing
the guitar since the age of 14. At secondary school his interests turned
towards electronics and keyboard instruments and at this time
he started to create electric guitar and effects, and was soon adapting
and rebuilding all kinds of electronic instruments and equipment.
In 1984 he qualified as an electrical engineer and following this he
turned his attention more seriously to electronic music and to the
application of computers in music. Thanks to his numerous publications
he became possibly the country's best-known writer on MIDI. Besides
this he actively plays and composes various completely different types
of music - space music, jazz-rock, heavy metal. In 1990 the Network
band was formed. Over several years Network gave many concerts and
their first cassette was released in the USA. Later László Kovács joined
the band. After two years working together Laci left the band but
continued to keep in contact, and the group and Laci actively took an
interest in each other's work and helped each other out. Attila took
an active part in the preparations for the 1999 Veszprém concert and
appeared on stage as a guitarist and keyboard player. At present he
takes an active part in Force Majeure's work through ideas and advice.

Dr. Csaba Herczeg

guitarist. Csaba was born in 1977 in Debrecen. In 2001 he received his
degree in Dentistry from the University of Debrecen. He first became
interested in music in primary school. He studied piano for three years
before he met his "great love", the guitar. He then studied guitar
for more than ten years in the Emil Simonffy Music School in Debrecen.
In addition to classical music he began to play in an amateur
rock band. He is a founding and permanent member of the Karc band.

In the "Future lights" 2001 concert he played both acoustic
and electric guitar.

He devotes his time - when he's not working or playing the guitar -
to nature photography and his aquarium.
